Flooded with agents

Flooded city street with rescue workers, stranded cars, umbrellas, and overflowing water

I want to use agents more in the day to day for personal and professional work. However, I haven’t landed in a spot I am happy with yet.

For personal, I tried OpenClaw at the peek hype, it did as advertised. I was able to setup some skills to periodically check in on things for me, go and do a task so I don’t have to find my laptop or research something I was interested in. Then it would completely break, I’d leave it for a month and then go reinstall everything when I wanted it again. Cycle repeated. I am going to try Hermes soon.

For work, Chatgpt/codex was pretty solid. I was able to connect a bunch of the MCPs and it was pretty nice.

Having agents in the cloud or always on server makes sense for continuous work that can’t be interrupted by your laptop dying. It introduces more friction when retrieving artifacts from it though. You can’t just go to a directory to find it anymore. Access to your external tools becomes a nightmare when having to auth them continuously on a remote system. Kind of a UX nightmare. The thing that is supposed to be reducing your load is just replacing it.

I don’t want to ask it to create a portal to find this or that, it should be there already. Inter-device communication is a must for the UX to improve. I think of Apple in this case, handoff, airdrop, apple tv remote, etc all these things make it easy for devices to interop. The agent ecosystem needs it.

I want to talk to one agent and go and dig into whatever it has done easily from whatever device I am on.
